ABSTRACT
One of the principal characteristics of an industrial society is the extent to which industrial processes and manufacturing dominate the direction of national economic activity. Energy consumption in the industrial sector amounts to approximately 40 percent of U.S. demand for electricity as well as 40 percent of overall energy demand in the U.S. economy. This significant portion of economic activity is a principal concern of electricity demand forecasters.
