At the dawn of the century many new disciplines, psychology among them, were incorporated into the curriculum of prestigious universities. Due to the promotional activities of L. K. Frank of the General Education Board of the Rockefeller Foundation, centers for the particular study of child development were established at various universities throughout the country. Columbia University was a mecca for graduate students eager to specialize in these new disciplines. I was one among them.
