ABSTRACT

This chapter deals with some examples of how behavioral principles help people to think of practical solutions to social problems that have an impact on many different people. Some of the products of human behavior threaten the future of the human race and perhaps the very existence of the biosphere. People must learn to operate new machines, interact with new software, use new documents or systems, take on new assignments in work, listen to new music, abide by new rules, use new products, and even learn new social interactions to keep up with changes in activities, interests, or emotions of family members, friends, colleagues, or neighbors. Many kinds of knowledge are important in order to have a complete understanding of human behavior. The concepts behavioral system, behavioral principles, behavior stream, and behavior repertoire relate to one another in the following ways: Behavior streams and repertoires pertain to particular humans.
