ABSTRACT

The REFORM approach to analyzing issues of gasoline makeup uses analytical tools that are well tried in the petroleum industry. Our purpose in making yet another linear program was to gain the ability to test a number of different restrictions now included in various versions of the Clean Air Act and South Coast Air Quality Management District (SCAQMD, California) plans. The existing legislation will impose significant changes on the composition of gasoline. Earlier regulation of gasoline was intended in large measure to do two things: eliminate lead and make gasoline compatible with catalytic converter technology.
