ABSTRACT

Energy development is one of the high priorities in China's modernization program. External cooperation for development of energy technology is an important aspect of technology transfer for China. Much of China's energy-consuming equipment is out-moded, and energy technology is backward, which results in a low efficiency of energy use. Through various means, a wide range of foreign technology and equipment has been transferred to China and has given new impetus to the growth of its energy industry. In carrying out its program of reforms, which is designed to forge closer links with the outside world and to invigorate the domestic economy, China seeks to use foreign capital and to invite international bids on energy projects. China needs advanced geophysical exploration technology; large digital seismographs with 240 channels or more; technology for continental shelf exploration and development; and advanced drilling technology and equipment such as horizontal and directional well-drilling equipment.
