ABSTRACT

The Computer-Aided Power Systems Improvement (CAPSI) package is being developed by a leading Indian computer manufacturer in association with the Indian Institute of Science, a premier research institution. The CAPSI package is capable of performing accurate circuit analyses of primary and secondary distribution networks. It computes voltages at every node, real and reactive power, losses at every section, and the total loss. Load studies are conducted to determine the voltage, current, power, and reactive power at various points in an electrical network under existing or contemplated conditions of normal operation. The growth in demand from existing users and the addition of new distribution networks calls for heavy adjustments and rearrangements of the distribution system. The network input module is used to input network information. The package can handle either mesh or tree-type networks and subtransmission, high-tension, or low-tension distribution networks.
