ABSTRACT
According to one of the reports by the International Labor Organization, the number of people in the world living below the poverty line rose in the period 1980-1985 by 1 million every month. By the year 2000, those below the poverty line may amount to 25% of the total world population unless corrective measures are adopted immediately. I paraphrase the words of the English philosopher John Donne in saying, “The death of any person takes away a part of me because I am a part of humanity."
