ABSTRACT
Revolutions are more often proclaimed than carried out, especially in Latin America. While profound transformations are taking place in countries as different as Iran, Nicaragua, Angola, and Zimbabwe, what has happened to Peru's once heralded revolution of 1968? Although the Peruvian experiment has suffered major disappointments, some fascinating shifts have occurred—shifts that may open the way to more substantial changes in the 1980s.
