ABSTRACT

On Thanksgiving Day, 1976, I was following Gill back into the lost canyon southeast of Pueblo. With Dave Rearick and my wife Paula, we bouldered and spent a relaxing day in the sun. Rearick occasionally wandered away from us to explore the exotic, silent cactus country or look for Indian petroglyphs. I spent most of the time filming, trying once more to get some footage of Gill on rock. The difficulty of filming John was that he preferred not to pose, so I had to work around him, frequently tripping over my tripod or having to crank the camera with Gill in the middle of a move.
