ABSTRACT

One of the theories says that the structure of the Japanese brain is different from that of all other people and this is the cause of the pure emotional vowel tones in the Japanese language. As a result the Japanese are an emotional people sensitive to nature and insect sounds but unable to operate in the abstract, logical terms that non-Japanese prefer. The concept of the Japanese as an ‘emotional’ people is often hard for westerners to understand. The Japanese have no hesitation in using the word emotional to describe them. The ability of the Japanese to come together easily into enterprise groups is a major strength for the Japanese economy. The Japanese ability to concentrate on an immediate task or situation is balanced out by their relative weakness in long-term and abstract planning. The emotionalism of the particularistic approach is balanced by the pragmatism gained when situations rather than principles are the basis of action.
