ABSTRACT

The new government of the Federal Republic of Germany is a continuation of the social-liberal coalition which set out its political intentions in the policy statement of January 18, 1973. That statement applies for the entire legislative term. The enactment of the Works' Constitution Act and the Personnel Representation Act has strengthened the position of the individual employee in the factory and in the office. With the enactment of the law to amend the Federal Building Act the federal government has taken a further important step forward in reforming land law. The federal government has taken steps to improve the quality of life and to protect the environment. The federal government and the states, industry, schools, factories and craftsmen, employers and trade unions, instructors and trainees, must all contribute to the reform of vocational education. The federal government will systematically continue its promotion of basic medical research and research on the combating of disease, especially such widespread diseases as cancer.
