ABSTRACT

The Brazilian National Meteorological Institute (INEMET) is developing efforts to make agroclimatic information available to its users in simple, concise, rapid formats that are adapted to the needs of the agricultural sector. This agroclimate information will contain a general diagnostic of the meteorological conditions that occur during a certain interval of time. The agricultural information system contains data for rainfall amounts, number of days of rainfall, adjusted mean temperature, maximum temperature, minimum temperature, and adverse phenomena such as frost, strong winds, flooding, etc. The INEMET agroclimatic information system is based on four subsystems: network of meteorological observations, network of telecommunications, data processing and quality control, and diffusion of the results obtained by the Boletim Agroclimatologico. The meteorological observations in the INEMET network are destined to different purposes, such as weather prediction and climatological and agrometeorological studies. INEMET has its own network for sending meteorological and administrative messages.
