ABSTRACT

In 1968, 1971, and 1976 the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Health Center (MLK) was evaluated by the Evaluation Unit of the Department of Community Medicine of the Albert Einstein College of Medicine. This evaluation was one of many health center evaluations funded by HEW and directed by Dr. Mildred Morehead. The format for health care evaluation was standardized. MLK could be compared with similar data from its own past evaluations and from evaluations of other health centers. The review of the quality of medical care provided is based on an analysis of services provided in the fields of medicine, pediatrics, obstetrics and gynecology, and dental care. The overall adult medical care in the center is the average seen in ambulatory care centers. Ratings for both clinical management and health assessments continue to be above the neighborhood health center average.
