ABSTRACT
One aspect of socioeconomic policy that has received much attention from politicians, social reformers and technicians has been that of education. Such prominence has arisen from concern with human rights, equality of opportunity and lately, economic development. In Colombia, education objectives are to be found in the Constitution and in development plans and the topic has been the subject of studies in the field of the economics of education.
