ABSTRACT

In this chapter, I identify the basic philosophical orientation that guides scholarly research endeavors utilizing research designs situated in the quantitative paradigm. Further, I discuss quality indicators (criteria) for conducting and/or consuming quantitative research. Next, I discuss the fundamental components of different types of quantitative research approaches and how the approaches have been used in adapted physical education (APE) research. Last, I present exemplars of studies in adapted physical education that are positioned in different types of quantitative research approaches. The goal in this chapter is to provide advanced information about quantitative research approaches targeted to graduate students and early career faculty interested in scholarship in APE.
