ABSTRACT

The cultural heritage of Palestine represents a complex history that is not always valued by its inhabitants as a national resource. Many Israelis use archaeology as a tool to prove the longevity of their residence in Palestine, without taking into consideration other ethnic groups, who have existed and still exist within the borders of Israel/Palestine. On the other hand, many Palestinian looters use archaeology as a tool to remove evidence of ethnic groups who are not related to their own. Archaeologists have an ethical responsibility to spread awareness among both societies in order to protect our common cultural heritage and build a bridge for coexistence in a multi-ethnic state.
