ABSTRACT

This chapter addresses the idea of “learning from experience” as a specific cross-curriculum priority in the field of social studies in Macao, and uses teaching the contents of geography in social studies curriculum as examples. First of all, the background of this study and the theoretical rationale for including learning from experience as a particular priority are provided. Then, cases of actual classroom practice in geography teaching chosen from the Award Scheme on Instructional Design in Macao are illustrated as examples. This is followed by a discussion, and the chapter ends with a recommendation for thinking about social studies curriculum and teaching.
