ABSTRACT

This chapter explores two different views of wisdom: person-based and endeavor-based. It proposes to study wisdom through wisdom incidents, which are the wisest things people that have done in real life. The chapter consists of five parts. The first part explains the two views of wisdom. The second part applies the discussion to the context of leadership, particularly to evaluating, recruiting, and training leaders. The third part explores possible cultural foundations for the two views. The fourth part introduces the concept of polycultural psychology and its implications of wisdom. The last part consists of conclusions and suggestions for future research and practices.
