ABSTRACT

In this afterword, the author explores various connections between the chapters in this collection and what they illustrate about the nature of the research process. She argues that rather than interruptions being aberrations to our work, they should be seen as integral to the research process, which often occurs in structures and institutional practices over which researchers have little control. She concludes that researchers need to make reflexivity part of this work, noting that critical introspection is central to creating ethically sound, humanizing work.
