ABSTRACT

The review of extant literature established that the dimensions of corporate social responsibility (CSR) are too wide ranging. In this chapter, we define CSR as represented by three main dimensions; regulation, entrepreneurship, and corporate citizenship. The main objective of this chapter is to examine the influences of CSR on companies’ learning capabilities, which comprise of three dimensions known as commitment to learning, shared-vision, and open-mindedness. The results of exploratory factor analysis (EFA) indicate that corporate citizenship dimension is a multi-factor dimension, which can be refined further into three main sub-dimensions, namely, ethical citizenship, discretionary citizenship, and economic citizenship. The results established that all CSR dimensions are positively related to some of companies’ learning capabilities dimensions. For examples, discretionary citizenship is positively significantly related to shared-vision and commitment to learning and not on open-mindedness. Likewise, ethical citizenship is positively significantly related to commitment to learning and open-mindedness but not on shared-vision.
