ABSTRACT

This chapter is an introduction of school-based management (SBM). It outlines the conceptual framework and evidence base that establishes the principles for enabling SBM to support student learning and improve learning outcomes. Additionally, the chapter provides contextualized examples of SBM that shed light on the factors that can make a difference in successful SBM implementation for inclusive, equitable, and quality education. More research into policy implementation at the school level and into the enabling environment for SBM, is necessary to understand the critical factors that allow SBM to support better learning for all.
