ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book discusses the fact that both exploration and exploitation are necessary for the survival of an organization. It provides a review of the literature on the dynamic-capabilities view and on corporate strategic change towards sustainability. The book reviews the ambidexterity literature and conceptually extends it by taking a novel perspective. It draws on data from 4951 organizations that participated in the Flemish part of the Community Innovation Survey to provide a better understanding of product innovation. The book examines the relationship among different kinds of emotion management actions and their effects on the strategic renewal process. It utilizes insights from the field of organizational psychology to provide deeper insight into the micro-foundations of innovative work behaviors and presents strategic change from a neuropsychological point of view.
