ABSTRACT

The collaboration between universities and industry has been perceived as a vehicle to enhance innovation through knowledge exchange. However, most of these kinds of collaborations are based on single disciplines. Though, to a certain extent, they are useful for students’ skills development and employability, they provide students a narrow view of the world. In this chapter, I propose that universities should develop multidisciplinary programmes to engage with industry and the business world to strengthen universities’ role in supporting and contributing to innovation, and managing uncertainty and complexity. More importantly, such programmes will help develop our graduates better and faster, and enhance their employability in a world on the move.
