Experimental Literary Forms in the Digital Age

This chapter considers innovative praxis in twentieth- and twenty-first-century Latin American literatures and cultures, focusing on works that have begun to shape the region's emerging canon of digital literature. Rather than presenting a typology of experimental online works produced in Latin America, however, this chapter undertakes a sampling (una muestra) of major trends in contemporary literary practices in the digital realm, as well as those print forms that intimately engage the digital imaginary. Exploring contemporary works from Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Cuba, Mexico, Puerto Rico, the United States, and Uruguay, this chapter's case studies survey a wide range of innovative literary trends in Spanish and Portuguese.
