ABSTRACT

This chapter explores some of the ways investigative journalists have approached reporting on the British far-right in recent times. It examines some examples of standout investigative journalism that have led to significant impact in the past 20 years, showing how such reporting has been at the forefront of informing the public about this shadowy world. In 2020, Britain’s far-right space consists of a wide range of groups. Some are older and retain a small band of followers, such as the National Front, the British National Party and the Blood & Honour network. Anti-fascists have been central in putting swathes of information about the far-right into the public domain. The leading anti-fascist platform in Britain until the 2010s was Searchlight, a magazine founded in 1964 and which became a regular, monthly publication for the anti-fascist movement from 1975.
