ABSTRACT

The chapter discusses how ethnic differences can impact on the organizations ability to perform in its task. It examines how difference and power privilege are connected, these are also the unspoken communications within organizations, that communicate the culture of the organization. Using vignettes it explores our ability to hold others’ difference whilst balancing the desire to be aligned with colleagues through the examination of language and communication. Throughout the discussion, it highlights seven key points that can enable leaders and organizations to work with difference effectively.
