ABSTRACT

In chapter two, six characteristics of group analysis important in organizational praxis are described: attention to the individual in the group, sophisticated grasp of the nuances of interpersonal communication, attention to context, tolerance and value of multiple perspectives, creative incorporation of difference, and a flexible developmental approach to managing anxiety and leadership projections. In this chapter, these six characteristics are used to analyze the case story described in chapter three, ‘Persecutor, victim, rescuer’, reflecting on the power dynamics which kept the organization in stasis, and the ethics of working without the support of the organization’s leader.
