ABSTRACT

In the second decade of the 21st century of the most important challenges faced by the inhabitants of Poland he combination of the two perspectives will facilitate examining the phenomenon of the Other from more than one angle.is the search for a mature relationship with the Other - with the Other in society, the Other in the family, and the Other as an individual. The last few years have shown a growing tension between those who are fearful, adopting a hostile attitude towards the Other, and those who are building relationships with the Other in the spirit of curiosity and kindness. A multilevel description of this tension reveals how it is very much ingrained in a historical context; and finding a balance between tradition and an openness to what’s new and different will ultimately constitute the identity of Poles. The dialogue between the Syrian sociologist living in Poland for more than 30 years and the Polish psychotherapist will facilitate examining the phenomenon of the Other from more than one angle.
