ABSTRACT

This ground-breaking interview reveals Andrea “M$ Blendz” Castleberry’s role in the Hip Hop culture and her life of being Black, gay, Christian, and Hip Hop. In addition to challenging the very understanding of “Christianity,” M$ Blendz provides an inside look into the life of artists and repertoire (A&R), which has not received that much scholarly attention. M$ Blendz started off by deejaying and progressed to owning her own company. This interview provides a necessary look at a queer woman Hip Hoppa. Our hope is that this interview will live as a primary source for scholars and practitioners who are interested in the juncture of Christianity, Hip Hop, and queerness.
