ABSTRACT

A young woman sought help in connection with difficulties in her love life linked to what she called a “disturbance of sexuality”. Much sought after by men, she had a few adventures in order to put on a good show socially, but was, as it were, absent from herself. The patient's associations gradually led to the reconstruction of the history of a little girl who had been humiliated by her father. He had neglected and ignored her, while at the same time explaining to her in crude terms how her mother remained his sole centre of interest because she was exciting. However, when she reached adulthood, this construction outside time left her on the edge of the sexual scene: internally, she was still the little prepubertal girl doomed to experience the indifference of men.
