ABSTRACT

This chapter explores the challenges of shifting Gimnasio Los Caobos, a PK–12 school outside of Bogotá, Colombia, toward student-centered, project-based learning. Caobos is shifting educational paradigms toward purpose-driven, globally connected, relevant student-centered learning to develop next-generation leaders who know their purpose and want to reshape their society. The chapter explores challenges in the school community and social context, addressing change strategies such as using intentional communication, innovative and traditional practices, transformative professional development, strategic partnerships, and student agency to motivate the culture shifts necessary for increasingly innovative practices.
