ABSTRACT

The Western Academy of Beijing (WAB) engaged all stakeholders in transforming its educational ecosystem. WAB challenged itself to get better at what it was already good at: holistic, child-centered education. For four years WAB has been researching, designing, practicing, and redesigning its educational ecosystem to better meet the learning and developmental needs and interests of every WAB student. As a result, stakeholders generated thousands of ideas synthesized into 21 transformative targets. Conventionally fixed features including schedules, classrooms, curriculum, and the organization of people are being reshaped to be agile and flexible, putting learners at the center of their learning.
