ABSTRACT

From 2010 to 2013, Yokohama International School (YIS) in Japan implemented a Visiting Scholars program. This program invited educational researchers, in particular those looking to conduct studies in an international school environment, to work within the YIS community for short-term projects. The Visiting Scholar program was designed to bring leading educational voices into the small-school community and to provide professional development for teachers and school leaders—all while encouraging these leading researchers to highlight the school in their studies. This vignette will describe the Visiting Scholar program and discuss its impact on the school.
