ABSTRACT

This introduction presents an overview of the key concepts discussed in the subsequent chapters of this book. The book focuses on perceptions of the Revolution and its role in the contemporary politics of memory. It analyses Marxist-Leninist historiography regarding the Russian Revolutions. The book deals with Danish reactions to the 1917 Russian Revolution. It discusses the different stages of reactions in Denmark. The book describes both the differences and the similarities between revolutionary developments in East Central European countries. It also analyses Marxist-Leninist historiography regarding the Russian Revolutions. The book also discusses the different stages of reactions in Denmark. It also describes perceptions of the Russian Revolution after the collapse of the Soviet Empire. It also deals with the Second World War and Soviet Occupation from 1944 to 1991. The book shows how political elites have used the remembrance of a historical event to promote national identity in post-Soviet Ukraine.
