ABSTRACT
South Asia comprises over two billion people and evidence cross-cutting cleavages unlike other regions. Much of the region also points to a democratic paradox in that people in South Asian states value democracy and vote in high numbers even as they grapple with malgovernance. The attendant fascinating and complicated politics are best analyzed via a democratic prism.
