ABSTRACT

This chapter looks at some of the reasons the Solution Focused approach works well with children and young people, highlighting both the overall stance of the Solution Focused approach and some key elements of practice. It introduces this book as a volume about both the practice of the Solution Focused approach with children and young people and about the practitioners who work with those children and young people and what they do to make the approach their own. The range of contributions from different countries, professional backgrounds and work contexts is outlined, and the nature of the Solution Focused approach as a practice driven model is highlighted, with hope and optimism at its centre.
