ABSTRACT

Dream … believe … achieve is a chapter that outlines how a small school in Johannesburg, South Africa, identified some negative aspects of classic schooling and how incorporating Solution Focused (SF) principles into its day-to-day running helped to change the attitude of all stakeholders. The authors attempt to outline how teachers began to model and use Solution Focused language after a series of workshops and designated tasks and how this simple act created change throughout the school. Additionally, a case study is included to highlight how use of SF language in an initial intake of a new learner helps to set up a learner for success despite their past.
