ABSTRACT

This chapter locates the meaning and parameters of participatory case study work and introduces the adaptations to it made by the authors. These adaptations include a set of vision and values drawn from emancipatory principles, the development of the ‘stepping model’, which helps to explain the dynamic movement between co-produced theory and social action, and the use of a shared narrative language to underpin co-production and co-creativity. The chapter also locates participatory case study work within the suite of case study designs.
