ABSTRACT

This chapter draws on the narratives of Malcolm and Margaret and a story of stroke survivorship. Malcolm as the stroke survivor and his wife Margaret used centre stage diagramming, positioning theory and constructivist grounded theory in order to generate a visual representation of the lived experience of stroke survivorship and a changing relational dynamic. Developed over a prolonged period of time, the personal theory shared in this chapter focuses on the conceptual development of the ‘stroke circle’ and its situated function as a ‘boundary fence’ to explain stroke survivorship.
