ABSTRACT

Drawing on a previously published article, this chapter shares the creativity of Sarah who lived with an early diagnosis of Alzheimer’s disease in conceptually constructing her life as a series of ‘see-saw’ diagrams. These diagrams illustrated Sarah’s constant attempts to maintain balance and stability in her life when that life itself was increasing in mistake-making and uncertainty. Life story interviewing and the importance of exchanging stories with the academic co-researcher were empowering forces in the development of the participatory case study work.
