ABSTRACT

This chapter frames corpus approaches to writing center research as useful for meeting writing center studies’ disciplinary purposes, objectives of interdisciplinary collaboration, and the enactment of social and restorative justice. It does this by tracing relevant scholarship across linguistics, writing studies, and writing center studies, and by articulating a line of inquiry based on critical discourse analysis. By layering corpus approaches onto established data collection methods and theoretical frameworks, writing center researchers can expand the range of their research and then more fully articulate the scope and impacts of writing center work to broader audiences. Furthermore, corpus approaches can open pathways to qualitative and mixed methods, and to research that is replicable, aggregable, and data-supported (RAD).
