ABSTRACT

Based on the theoretical insights, the arguments and the discussions presented in the preceding chapters, this concluding chapter outlines how place management can integrate mobilities thinking into the effort of developing better functioning places. The ambition of the chapter is to develop an applied approach for ‘future mobile place management’ in different places and contexts (e.g. cities, villages, tourist sites, transport companies, airports, harbours, transit spaces, municipalities and government departments) where ‘place managers’ face challenges of places being disconnected, overloaded, homogenised, turned into a spectacle or having the wrong sort of mobility. The chapter concludes by suggesting a mobilising place management approach that practitioners can employ to integrate mobile place management into their practice.
