ABSTRACT

Regional development is transforming our landscapes, architecture and identities, whether we like it or not. At the same time, urban regions are a rapidly growing research field. To develop a conceptual grasp of the urban region, we need to look at development over time. It is also essential to identify and examine connections between the everyday level of the inhabitants’ day-to-day life and the general level that is addressed, for example, in the regional think tank. The chapter unfolds central components in the process of building an urban Øresund region, pointing to the layering and interaction of large-scale structures, political imaginations and mobile identities.
