ABSTRACT

Richard Kearney (Boston College)

This chapter argues that the question of narrative hospitality is important for both contemporary philosophy and contemporary Ireland. Part 1 outlines the hermeneutic model of linguistic hospitality advanced by Paul Ricoeur. Part 2 illustrates how this model may be applied to two Irish-related cultural experiments: the Guestbook Project of narrative hospitality (Exchanging Stories, Changing History) and the Twinsome Minds project of “Double Remembrance” (as it relates to 1916).
