ABSTRACT
After discussing Sismondi’s crucial Genevan intellectual formative years, this chapter examines some elements of his Republican creed. Sismondi’s shifting appreciation of the concept of market and his price theory, his critical approach to “the chrematistics of the English School” and his position within the general glut controversy are successively critically examined. Some concluding remarks suggest a few comments on Sismondi’s alleged heterodoxy.
