ABSTRACT
In 1945, the Second World War ended leaving many countries of the world destroyed. People wanted peace and an end to conflict. Later that year representatives of 50 countries met in San Francisco and drew up the United Nations Charter. The mission of the United Nations (UN) would be to maintain international peace and security, protect human rights, deliver humanitarian aid, promote sustainable development, and uphold international law.
