ABSTRACT

Iran and the international order are both undergoing profound, even potentially paradigmatic changes. The fact that these changes are taking place in a digital age of artificial intelligence and their incumbent revolutionary technological changes has expedited and expanded the scope of these transformations. Three massive migrations in Iran over the last century – from the village to the city, from inside the house to the public domain for women and the emergence of an Iranian diaspora – have been historic in their consequences. The political dislocations, instabilities, corruption and disharmonies of the last four decades need to be understood in historic context of these changes.
