ABSTRACT

This chapter presents case studies of people-to-people exchanges. The Agreement on the establishment of a Chinese cultural centre in Jordan between the Government of the People’s Republic of the People’s Republic of China and the Hashemite Kingdom of Jordan was signed on January 8, 2018. The centre aims to promote more cultural exchanges between the two countries and deeper mutual understanding and friendship between the two peoples. Some countries along the Belt and Road are relatively closed and conservative in terms of economic development and their cultural development-related infrastructure is also relatively weak. Cultural exchange is the bond connecting people along the Belt and Road and the lubricant of the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) construction. It can attract people along the Belt and Road to know more about the BRI, so that the development of the BRI can transcend barriers of nationalities, languages, political systems and cultures.
