ABSTRACT

The Silk Road was an important pathway connecting the three ancient civilisation rims in Asia, Europe and Africa, and it consisted of the maritime and overland routes connecting China with the outside world. The Chinese culture spread along the Silk Road to the Western Regions, and grape, alfalfa, pomegranate, flax, sesame and other crops in the Western Regions were also introduced to the Central Plains. The prosperity of the Silk Road made positive contributions to the development of the Central Plains and Central Asia. The Silk Road is a network of communication routes connecting China and the West and connecting Europe and Asia. The Belt and Road Initiative proposed by China aims to inherit and carry forward the Silk Road spirit and link China’s development with the development of other countries along the route, and the Chinese dream with the dreams of the people in those countries.
