ABSTRACT
The regions involved within the territory of China currently include the five northwestern provinces, Chongqing, Sichuan, Inner Mongolia and Xinjiang Construction Corps, and will further expand to other provinces and regions in China in the future. The 21st Century Maritime Silk Road has two main routes: one connects China and Europe via the South China Sea and the Indian Ocean; the other connects China and the South Pacific through the South China Sea. In cooperation, China has always insisted on friendly consultations and lays stress on improving people’s livelihood without any political strings attached. China hopes to drive common development with its partners through the Belt and Road Initiative, especially for the developing countries, to jointly promote infrastructure construction, improve the level of industrialisation and solve the imbalance of world economic development. One of the priority cooperation directions for building the Belt and Road is to promote cooperation in international production capacity and equipment manufacturing and expand mutual investment.
